Oceans 12 : Manmadhan : late Update

We should have time to watch these movies .... So I managed only 2 out of them

Oceans 12:

STORY

Terry Benedict (Andy Garcia) saw Danny Ocean (George Clooney) and his gang (Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and others) steal $160 million from one of his casinos, and now he wants the money back, with interest. To avoid Benedict's wrath, Ocean rounds up his crew of thieves and jets to Europe with plans to score loot in Rome, Paris, and Amsterdam, including Rembrandt's "De Nachtwacht" painting.

What is this ??? - Could anyone explain this movie to me - this my initial reaction !!

I watch lot of English movies, and in a small hint I get the real story of the movie, but in this movie I spent all the time to understand the Logic behind this movie, the story and the star cast !! Why so many stars and why only one Bad guy.

But the Best thing in the movie, is the way Villan dodges from the radar, But in the climax, should he loose that in such a silly manner !! What 12 people could not do 1 did, but why should he leave it with 3 idiots ? There is no logic behind this movie. Simply go and enjoy the Stars and and and --------- Nothing else !! Its an average success in Chennai.

Manmadhan

First hit for Simbhu, He proudly calls himself as "Little super star", but he never performed even to level of a STAR, In manmadhan he showed his talent.

SOTORY :

In the film Manmadhan Simbhu (Madhan Kumar) is an Auditor. And as a Part time he goes to Drums class. There he meets Jothika (Mythili). But befor this Jokthika sees Simbhu in her dream, who rapes her. They become friends. Jothila falls in Love with Simbhu (Manmadhane nee.. song comes here) . Every day in the evening, Simbu kills one girl who has many boy friends (There is a background story for this which comes afterwards) The Tamilnadu Police will be Searching forn the accquist who kidnaps and kill the girls. One day when he kills a girl and take her in his bike across a petrol bunk, accidentally Jokthika sees him. She gives a complaint to the Police. The Police arrests Him and enquire him.

The Comes the Flash back.

He had a Younger Brother called Madhan Raj (Simbu II) (Double act) in his village, Who lived with thier uncle (Goundamani)(Here comes Vaanmunna Uyaram Kaattum Song) . One day Madhan Raj sees a girl in the town bus and falls in love with her. He joins the college and he will be surprised to see the same girl there. Her name is Vaishnavi. Both of the start to love each other. (Kadhal Valarthen.. Song comes here) In that college Madhan Raj had a Friend called Bobby ("Salagalai Vs Ragalai" Santhanam). One day anothe friend of him says that she has a relationship with another boy called cheenu. He does not believe it. To talk to her, he goes to her house at night. To his surpeise he sees Cheenu with her on th bed. Pretending not seen anything, he rings the bell. Vaishnavi comes down. She says the she was doing combine studies with him. But they come to know that all what they had been doing was seen by him. He kills both of them (Cheenu and Vaishnavi). He comes to Chennai to his brother's (Madhan Kumar) House. He says all the truth to his brother and commits suicide.

But Madhan Kumar (Simbhu I) Says to Police that the Person who has been Kidnapping the girls was no him but his brother Madhan Raj in order to escape from the police.

But the real person who had been Kidnapping the girls was Madhan Kumar. When he Comes out of the Jail, Jothika says her love to him. (Here Comes En Aasai Mythiliye song) But he rejects it because he doen not want to spoil a girls life.

All troubles !!

Life Last week was too tough, Everything went over my head!! Week before my exams : I had very tough time with Presentations, Report and Case study for Internals; Job was also very tough full field job!!

My exams were really cool, I did very well! Out of 6 subjects, International marketing was alone bad, full international Trade and funda! After a week today we got our last term grades, I maintained my 7.5 level. I got 4 B and 2 C. Internals were really bad last time in our center. People in Hyderabad easily Get 8.5, But my CGPA is very good in comparison with Chennai standards!!. After a weeks : Yesterday I went to Mayajal, watched Oceans 12 and manmadhan, I did exams well, Got Good grades and Incentives in Airtel (Hum little money and appreciation)

Under Employed !!

NOTE: I am not going to talk about the underemployment in the country or in the World. Underemployment during Projects

Soon after B-School, During Final Project or research work, students are paid a meager sum of 5 to 10 thousand rupees. Almost all students engage in Selling or Research or Advertising or analysis or corporate work..... They don’t do a project as such.

After Graduation, we spend a lot of time preparing for CAT, then we make it into a Good B-School, there we see everything less than our expectation, but still we prepare hard, equip us well for a Dream MBA, then join Great companies for Summers, then again come back and have ups and downs in Marks with electives, we spend from 2 to 5 lakhs for M B A, these words!!

During December to February most of the students will be placed in all the good Institutes, but the actual job will start with the first day, or days after the initial training depending on the Industry and Company. But the real pay will only start after we provide our course completion certificate. So when a student is placed for 30k per month in Sep - 04, till Sep - 05 he will not get his degree, so he will be paid only 5 to 10 K, this is mere underemployment. Every student of ICFAI will be eligible to work full time from February. But sill we get only 25% of what we should actually get.

This situation is present in all organizations; one of my senior was placed in one such company, now for the past few months he gets regular pay (That is after 9 to 10 months). But another student was placed for less pay but he was paid fully from the beginning, so he gained much more in one year including the incentives, then he switched over to competitor to get even greater pay. In over 6 months easily company can gain Rs.100000, and some Companies gain more when they take in Bulk. Never any company mentions these in Pre Placement Talks (PPT), They say Cost to Company CTC - God only knows what are the Components of CTC and the Break ups in CTC.

Hope this situation stops, and we get full pay as soon as we are available for full time!!

What we need in Life !!

I am living in Chennai -------- Doing a MBA, for job - Education - Wealth - lifestyle - Corporate Success - Future....

But people live with 10 k Take home/m to 80 k take home/m in B-Schools, what they all share in Common??? Does the Quantitative, English, GK, Skills really makes the difference??

Ok.......... Forget it!!!

People earn from 5 Rs per day to even 5 Crores. But do we need all the money,Are they Happy ?? what exactly we need in life. When I was a Kid I wanted to become a Traveler helping people then I wanted to become a Doctor then a CA now a CEO ------ Our Dreams go on and on. Do we need only money in Life? Then, what is the use of having too much.

We know Sunil Mittal was selling Generator sets before 20 yrs, but suddenly he is the Best Entrepreneur of the Year, His Company is the Emerging Company of the Year. There is no limits for Dream. We can do any thing in our given span of life, but each of our action has a effect in our afterlife.

In what way Does Maths or English or MBA or PhD. going to matter in our Life. Do all MBA's become better than Ambani or Sunil Mittal?? The power of Dream takes us far and High!! I do dream a lot.

Lord Krishna said in Gita "A real winner is the one who enjoys most in life or who laughs for most time" our enjoyment should me in an ethical way. Its not money, fame, Power, success that we should aim at its happiness!! But we should not forget to achieve at least a little in life!!

Is it worth Retaining a Phone Line ... A stupid Land line

Is this business Stupid??

Now way, often we MBA’s are proud selling a consumer durable or FMCG or Cars, why not Telephone, I meet customers who bring business of 500 Rs/pm to 5000 pm. There are many SME with 5-10 lines and they generate revenue of 2000-40000 each month. Lets take a Company with 5 lines and pays minimum of 2000. It works out to 120,000 per year, we buy TV FOR 25,000, Cars for 500000-10, 00,000, Hey it’s a far better business. For a period of 10 years we don’t change Cars or TV or AC’s, in 10 yrs even a normal customer will bring in a business of 12, 00,000 that’s Huge. On the other hand there are many people who only spend 500 pm, they generate 60,000. But to STP (Segmentation, Targeting and Positioning) of Airtel is too good, so they concentrate on Corporate, SME, Commercial and PCO. They also provide phones for Residential customer!!

So happy getting some money, working for one of the most dynamic companies, and Work Exp too ….. I also attend all the classes and PPT (Pre placement talks) waiting for a good company ……

Customer Retention at Bharti : Airtel Telephone Services

This is what I do...

Daily I get up by 7.00, get ready, have a quick glance on newspaper, then have a cup of tea, then dress up formally, and then leave by 9.00. A Bharti tower is at santhome half an hour drive from T.Nagar (Place where I stay in Chennai).

I report to a MBA guy with 2 yrs exp. in Bharti, we have 2 teams under Retention. Retention team is headed by Mr. Balaji CFO of Airtel Telephone and broadband services South India. Then by Mr. Manoj, who were one of the few who joined touchtel very early. There are 2 teams, who focus on retention of customers.

There are 6 zones in Chennai, daily we have a list of customers who cancel their land line phone. We try to retain them. Company expects at least 50% retention rate. Me and another Friend from ICFAI Ram Kumar, do retention. We get about 10 cases in a day. It’s certainly easy to meet all of them. But convincing a customer really takes full information about Product. Here I understood the importance of Product management, We have to be clear of the who product and retention offers we give to our customers. After giving offers they have to pulse more - or else there is no use to retain a customer who will never bring business.

I deal with Retention in T.Nagar, we call the customer, if need go to field also. We work only part time. So we are give many different tasks. We handle Low pulsing customers, We handle tele calling, We handle back hand, we develop Retention offers for specific cases and we also manage account cards of problematic customers. I will continue here until i get a nice job. Its only part-time, so classes starts from 2 to 9, Saturday and Sunday full day. So it’s manageable to me. Daily I do the same. Company, Class, Internet, Songs, and Computer games, Movies (Saturday Sunday) and Sleep well. I really like this.... I will continue

Business Cycle

Product Life Cycle

1.Introduction
2.Growth
3.Maturity
4.Decline

Many say we can save the skin of the company even after the maturity stage, but when there is an external threat, there is very less a company can do.

It all starts off well for any company: they design a product or services, devise strategies and decide upon the policies and framework and gradually expand the business! But after the business expands well - it’s very tough to stay only with core competency! We have to diversify. Even in India we know may companies who believed in one product or a business who have all closed their business!!

But, In HLL's case, i am not happy with the way its happening, It’s the most visionary company in India. As its logo suggests it’s ever green all the stake holders. But now everything is upside down.

HLL was the success story and even case study for many Unilever ventures outside India and Europe. But now the Big HLL is falling. What triggered this situation, they have never made losses, but why suddenly?

In the 80's and 90's they came up with many Brands and the concept of Brand Management was done well – in fact very well. They were the early entrant in this potential market and straight way they garbed the market share and started to dominate the market.

Now they are loosing in their core segment Soap and Detergent, even in Foods. Their exports are doing ok and other Brands are going on. It’s not because P&G reduced the price. The various reasons are:

- Reduction in Price
- Expectation of increase in volumes
- Local & Regional Brands
- Shift in buying pattern: Mobiles and Durables
- Customer savings
- Spending on visible factors as Vehicle, Shirt ….

Companies can land up in this situation any day; they cannot predict many external threats – Political, Economical, Technological, and Social. All they can do is try to diversify and focus on Management control.

In the beginning, company spends a little on marketing, Employees, Share holders, in the overall business - as the time progresses it spends more and more on each. We cannot simple change the culture of the Management, People, Employees, and Shareholders etc. So the current measures will help a bit, HR policy, Org. Structure, Cost reduction …..

HLL is still very good, its Power Brands, distribution, marketing, Pricing, Stakeholders will all help it, it is not under Decline stage, but under Maturity stage. They only thing that I don’t like about HLL is its HR policy.

But the never expected loss actually struck HLL - the Devil has already shown its face. Better Beware!!!

One day workshop in Taj Fisherman's Cove

B.Jeyavarthanaraj : 30-10-04

We Students of IBS-C (05: 30 students & 06 – 100 students) had one day workshop in Taj leisure hotels - Fisherman's Cove!

Workshop was by DIG of Chennai Police - Pradeep V. Philip (IAS) – one of the board members of IBS-C on EQ ‘Equilibrium Thinking’. We had both indoor and outdoor events. Indoor was as usual full of Soft skill and Equilibrium Thinking concepts (Be in it, to Beat it).

In outdoor we had great fun on the Beach: Coining words which will total to 100. We all know 'Attitude' ads up to 100, but Discipline and innovator also adds up to 100.
We had Bulls Eye practice (I tried thrice could only reach second target once: No one hit the bulls eye), A Balloon exercise and Word games.

In Bulls eye they wanted to know about people who try again and again, in Balloon exercise they tried to identify people who get more signatures and who maintain it better (many people were showing lethargy in blowing and getting sign). Creativity was checked in word exercise. Finally the event I liked the most was Rope game: 'The Tug of war'. Our team lost the game but still it was a great fun! Only in the last one hour we were let free to Rome around the Beach.

In Indoor we had attitude, Leadership and psychology questionnaires. Theories on stress management, Time management, Success, Leadership, ‘SELF’, Sub-Conscious mind.... lot of others. Mr. Philip was one of the people who were injured in Rajiv Gandhi's Bomb blast. He was just a few meters away from the blast. He shared many other experiences with us.

About Taj Fisherman's Cove:

We went out of the city in 3 busses, crossed the toll gate - and then in a few kilometers we reached Taj Fisherman's Cove. When the bus entered the hotel, I saw 2 ducks crossing the car park place and I had a view of the hotel: WOW. It’s directly on a beach - with beach view rooms and cottages.

Rooms costs from 6000 - 10000, we have 88 luxury cottages and elegantly appointed rooms with spectacular views of the sea, private open garden showers, private sit-outs, A nice pool with built in Bar, Massage rooms, Sun Bath, Beach games, A nice garden, and many others. Mostly occupied by foreigners (its 250 - 450 dollars for them).

The food was ok – a small (non-veg) menu, and tea was bad both times and the coffee was good! But quality of food and taste was good, mainly we could have .It was a great day: Knowledge with Fun! With money too – but we paid only 200, actually we have to pay at least 10000 if we want to stay there one day!

Tamil Movies

I had time to watch M KUMARAN (Son of Mahalakshmi) and 7/G Rainbow colony

First : M Kumaran

IT is a remake of a Telugu movie "Amma nana oru Tamil Ammai" - it means Mom dad and a Tamil Girl. The story starts with Jayam "Ravi" as son of Nadhiya. She lives alone with her son. He becomes a kick boxer, he has great interest in kickboxing and he misses many good opportunities to stay with mom. Then his mom dies ... she asks for a wish ... she sends him to meet his father in Singapore. Kumaran lives there with his Dad who is a 6 time Kick boxing champion. His Dad stays away from them ; due to interest and dedication towards Kick Boxing. Then his Dad created his new family in Singapore. He goes there and he hurts his dad, shows love to his new family and finally wins as a great champion.

+s:

Story line
Action
Viveks comedy touch
Hasin : Actress : she is cute (Basically from Kerala)

-s:

Bad songs, only 2 ok songs
He never get even a single blow in all the great fights
Too Senti.
Ravi's - Heros voice : not at all like a kick boxer

Overall its a hit in Tamil Nadu, thanks to CM - she banned all VCDs and movies, so the only way to see a movie is thro. theater, So this will become a Hit. I enjoyed the movie, Specially his effort towards action and dance.

Second: 7/G Rainbow colony
A useless- waste guy, love a good looking & rich turned poor girl. He fights in street, get beating in chapel, goes behind her like a dog, does all thing, which make a girl, hate him. But then he keeps on helping her, wants to become a good friend. Sonia is cute in the movie as Anita. Then she decides to love him. She makes him study, act gently, joins him in Hero Honda for a job. Then after enjoying with him she dies. Stupid ending.

+s:

Hero : he is not at all good
Climax
Psyche approach again

The same goes again, nothing great about this move … just we can see once, all movies are becoming too focused towards Youth. May be the order of the day. Great songs … I loved every one of them. No more VCDs in Chennai … this movie is a BIG HIT!

------ Planning to see couple of English movies too.

Got Little Break

Marketing Research Exam is just over ... 2 more papers to go, so got a little time...

Management Control system and Business Strategy papers were easy and I did well ... Hope I don't miss out in One words this time! Consumer Behavior was little tough.... done ok.

I was preparing for Marketing Research well ... With ref. Books after a long time ... Then the paper was really tough! Case was very difficult to Handle ... We had 50 marks problems. I did ok ... Nothing special

ICFAI Exam Strategy:

We have break up of

Part A: 30 - one word
Part B: 40 - Theory/ Problems and
Part C: 10 - applied theory/problem and 20 - CASE.

So people who make last minute preparation come and concentrate on Part A and Part C. People who are well prepared will do well in Part B, and then they miss out CASE as they spend too much time in Part B. So it makes little smart work to prepare and present. There are some people who get Good marks with little preparation. But what's a point in Marks without Knowledge...

But if the Question Paper has theory for 10 marks in Part C and The Case is oriented towards some specific topic or Concept - as today ... Many will suffer.

Planning to do better ... Interesting papers ahead - Marketing communication strategy and Service marketing. Then - one week holiday: Free from Office and college ... Freak out ... Lots of new movies to see ... ohooi.

Placements

Hum.... Life so far

The ultimate climax to any B-School is Placements, We had a tough time in finding good Summer Projects - we were happy to work in companies, which are not in our line of interest. Summer projects are for learning, but Job - for life.

Placements has started for the batch if 2005 in IBS Chennai, our B-Schools is not as great as many others in India (Top 10) but still we people get reasonably good openings. During our CAT and MBA Entrance preparation we participated in GD, which had an interesting topic: Is MBA needed for Engineers………….. Ask me now: I will say YES - many companies prefer Engineers with MBA.

So far ... 6 companies came for placement.... Many attended the interview for HR, Marketing, IT and mainly Finance. But many asked for Engineers, No one asks for Non-Engineer in particular. Companies came for ERP, Supply Chain, Insurance, Capital management, IT and Finance. I have plans to attend pre placement talk with some companies. I will see the presentation and then decide.

So far.... Some 15 students are places - 8 students : just before 2 days in Ramco System in various specializations and others after their summers . Expectations and Hopes continue ... and will continue (Till the End of my life)

Bharti Airtel

I am currently working in Bharti - Airtel telephone services - A new program in our college which allows students do partime projects and job in companies. So that how me and my Friend are working in Bharti (Touchtel : now airtel telephone service after unified licensing)

So after a long time ..... I am really busy with a lot of work, cases, presentations and mailly training and work .... Training went totally 7 days : full fundas about the company, departments, Products, services and Technology. So this is why i dont update my Blog often. One question everyone asks me - will it continue as a placement : NO - I will not join this company at this department, pay will be less - even they know that we wont stay long. I will post about my training, life and luxury after joining airtel - its really friendly and dynamic place to work.

............. Six sigma projects are also undertaken in Airtel - Hope to join one of them.

SIX SIGMA

What is six Sigma ?

A vision of quality which equates with only 3.4 defects per million opportunities for each product or service transaction. Strives for perfection. For a service organization this concept will be difficult to measure - they have to measure every service. Its a Greek letter which is a measure, a way of work and a key business plan.

Sigma : 2 - 308537 defects/million opportunities or products
6 - 3.4 defects/million opportunities or products

Is it like TQM:

TQM and continuous improvements are the Qualtiy concepts followed around the world now, but this is a very Dynamic form of Quality improvement.

What more :

DMAIC – (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) is a process for continued improvement. It is systematic, scientific and fact based. This closed-loop process eliminates unproductive steps, often focuses on new measurements, and applies technology for improvement.

How can a company achieve it:

Black Belt – Leaders of team responsible for measuring, analyzing, improving and controlling key processes that influence customer satisfaction and/or productivity growth. Black Belts are full-time positions.

Control – The state of stability, normal variation and predictability. Process of regulating and guiding operations and processes using quantitative data.

CTQ: Critical to Quality (Critical "Y") – Element of a process or practice which has a direct impact on its perceived quality.

Customer Needs, Expectations – Needs, as defined by customers, which meet their basic requirements and standards.

Defects – Sources of customer irritation. Defects are costly to both customers and to manufacturers or service providers. Eliminating defects provides cost benefits.

Green Belt – Similar to Black Belt but not a full-time position.

Master Black Belt – First and foremost teachers. They also review and mentor Black Belts. Selection criteria for Master Black Belts are quantitative skills and the ability to teach and mentor. Master Black Belts are full-time positions.

Variance – A change in a process or business practice that may alter its expected outcome. We should not look at the averages : the variance between the best Product/service to the worst Product/service.

Did any one Achieve it:

Yes some companies have achieved Six Sigma level of Quality : this will surely Delight the Customers. Focus will be on customers too. There is no organization or a body which will certify any company with six sigma. This concept was started by GE and Motorola also achieved this level of customer delight.

Is it a Fad:

I don't know, I came across this in Bharti (Airtel) and I am really interested in this concept of "Customer Delight" as this is almost impossible to achieve : many organizations try hard and quit themselves from this concept. May be we have to wait for an Indian company to come up with Six Sigma. Bharti (Airtel) has plans to launch various six sigma projects, but it just in the planning stage. Hope some visionary Indian company attains this level of service or Quality!

Chennai in Showers

We all know that there is no water in Chennai, but how to bring in Water ... Water lorries ? Veeranam thittam ? Interlinking of rivers ? Or ? Or ?. One of the ways is through heavy rains again and again.

It is happening finally in Chennai, Heavy rains, all parts of city its raining really well. The roads are filled with water and no proper drainage. We say we want more rain and more rain. But if it rains like how it rains today, there will be no place for vehicles to move in street. Water just stagnates in the streets and plain grounds. I don't know what Chennai corporation is going to do about this situation.

But is really different ... Chennai in Rains (Chennai el oru malai kallam) Yesterday morning I left to Bharti office is was drizzling, first time after going to Chennai I tried using my rain coat. For the past one week, almost every day I will be caught up in rains. So now I see people going out with umbrellas and rain coats - sounds like Kerala state. Its great being in chennai at this time, its really cool in the night, warm in the morning, Cool breeze round the clock ... WOW !!

I hope rains will continues - it can be a solution to water scarcity in Chennai ! Rains should continue ... Ground water level should increase ... Hope so ... It will RAIN !!

Presentations at B-Schools

Hum .... The most interesting part of any B-Schools is the type of Case studies and presentations.

After Entering ICFAI I have handled many many presentations. In the first term our faculties asked us to make presentation in power point. Some students started presentations with OHPs .... but Faculties stressed on Power point only. In the beginning we collect all the info, prepared for the presentation and downloaded good templates and gave a professional presentation with our personal touch.

Now its all different, I made a Presentation for a case study in Marketing Communication Strategy, It was about cokes plans entering Rural India. I didn't have time, so in the last one hour I created slides and gave a very good presentation, I kept a lot of facts and Points outside the case and of course a lot of pictures of Advertisements.

Every one taught that I spent days preparing for it, after that great presentation,my faculty challenged other students to take up PepsiCo case. Then it all really started .... Video presentations. We saw seniors use Flash for presentations ... Now in our Batch also it started.

But there is one point in any ones presentation, it not important how prepared you are or what vocabs you use or What you show. But we have the convey the message properly to the audience. I always go by his rule. Presentation ambiance is improved by Powerpoint or Video Clip or Flash. But the real good presentation is the one which is understood and accepted to be the best by the Audience.

I will go with the GLADIATOR Movie dialogue (Before Maximus enters the Coliseum his master tells him) "Win the crowd and you will win your freedom"

The same goes with every one, may be a Cricket player (or) a Gladiator (or) a Faculty .... Or a student giving a presentation ....

"Win the crowd and you will win"

..........I will be B A C K !!!

Till Today

Yesterday by 6 in the evening we inaugurated our Healthclub, I had great fun. We invited Crazy Mohan to inaugurate our Health club. Crazy mohan is well know comedian in Tamil movies, artist in various dramas in TV and a also a script writer for Tamil movies. His latest appearance was in Vasool Raja MBBS movie. He is responsible for all the funny dialogs in that movie.

This is a small initiative from IBS point of view, we didn't prefer going in for academic or corporate or Big stars. He is on his way for a 2 months trip to USA for conducting Tamil drama and plays in various parts of US. He accepted to conduct a comedy show for our institute, He is a very simple funny and a CRAZY man.

I had many works, in MBA all the students are focused on studies, after 7 days juniors have exam so only 2 council members were ready to work, in my batch all went to finance class, me the only Marketing member and 2 juniors did all the work. Finally we had 50 students and 5 staff and 20 non staff member attended the function. Now IBS students can have more fun with Gym, TT, Caroms, TV and Songs .... only 130 students have registered for Gym, which is a very small count, around 50% of the strength, and that too only for 1 hour each, Students council has to rework on schedules and student timings.

Daily I come to college by 10 and will stay till 9, Daily some students council work ... We have a paid placement cell in IBS-C (They work great) some days we compete with them. So far Students Council has conducted Finance club, ET Club, Council meetings, Marketing club, Party ,Health club and many student works. Sometimes I think all these are unnecessary to my MBA ... But MBA is not just studies. Its great being students council member. I love to be an elected honorary member representing students, in UG I was secretary now students council member ... I Hope to attain a lot of respectable positions in life.

ROYAL BENGAL TIGER:

Tigers are rapidly decreasing in the world. In the last millenium, three sub-species of tigers already lost their existence while five other species are endangered. The first lot of the three sub-species comprised of panthera tigris virgata, panthera tigris balica and panthera tigris sondica.

The endangered species are Bengal Tiger(Panthera tigris tigris), Amur Tiger (Panthera tigris attaica), Chinese Tiger (Panthera tigris amoyensis), Indonesian Tiger(Panthera tigris sumatrae) and Indo-Chinese Tiger(Panthera tigris corbetti). To save these tigers, a movement called Save Tiger has been working since 1972.

Total number of tigers in India in 1972 was 1800 which has since then increased to 3500-4000. Efforts of the Government, NGOs and the people have brought about this change. The Wildlife Conservation Act was passed in 1972. But incidents of poaching is still heard. We have sixteen project tiger field areas in our country. They are Corbet National Park, Kanha National Park, Indravati National Park, Sarinka National Park, Melghat Sanctuary, Palamou Tiger Reserve, North Simlipal National Park, Buxa Sanctuary, Sunderbans National Park, Manas Sanctuary, Namdapha National Park, Nagarjun Sagar Shvishailam Sanctuary, Bandipur National Park.

PEACOCK:

The male Indian Peafowl, commonly known as the peacock, is one of the most recognizable birds in the world. These large, brightly colored birds have a distinctive crest and an unmistakable ornamental train. The train (1.4-1.6 meters in length) accounts for more than 60% of their total body length (2.3 meters). Combined with a large wingspan (1.4-1.6 meters), this train makes the male peafowl one of the largest flying birds in the world. The train is formed by 100-150 highly specialized uppertail-coverts. Each of these feathers sports an ornamental ocellus, or eye-spot, and has long disintegrated barbs, giving the feathers a loose, fluffy appearance. When displaying to a female, the peacock erects this train into a spectacular fan, displaying the ocelli to their best advantage.

The more subtly colored female Peafowl is mostly brown above with a white belly. Her ornamentation is limited to a prominent crest and green neck feathers. Though females (2.75-4.0 kg) weigh nearly as much as the males (4.0-6.0 kg), they rarely exceed 1.0 meter in total body length.

---- lots to be said about Indian Wild life ..... will continue !

Party - Exam - Marketing Club

Too busy .....

We started from our campus in 3 busses ..... a one hour journey towards mahabalipuram, on the east cost road after VGP there are a lots of beach houses. We finally reached that place. I was forced to go on the first bus to show the way. I had only my dear juniors with me .... It was a formal journey, they are mostly from north, they did not understand the songs, then they dint like the movie. No dance or song in the Bus. I should have come on the last bus with all my friends ... Ho it will be rock and roll.

We entered the place by 4 in the evening, it was Hot (Chennai) then we had some little play in pool, all the students were gathered for an informal meeting between the seniors and juniors, it went on well. Then all of us were busy pushing each other in the pool. Since the pool was not very deep, nothing happened to anyone and i enjoyed a lot.

We went to Beach and had a real great time over there, we were going on and on, infact our juniors enjoyed more than us as we people had exams on that week. But a bunch of seniors including me, we had great fun. Then I spent time with my gang, they came in Bike, then came after going to a restaurant/bar. They drove 5 km on the beach, I missed it. We were all busy making fun of each other. Then songs started ..... 7 to 12.30 I was on and on and on. Had little break when our Dean came and during food. Crazy dance. Juniors were dominating the dance floor.

Exams:

All marketing papers and 2 common papers were all theory, 5 days 6 exam's. Some days in the morning then in the evening ..... I slept for 4 hours and some times less, I felt little stress after that party, full of cramps. Tired and different sleep timing really affected me. Then question paper was the best. All creative and out of portion or micro portion test. We had marketing research questions in Consumer behavior and a different general - Marketing Comm. Strategy paper and easy services marketing paper. Didn't do well in Management control system, rest all were good.

Marketing club:

It was created before 2 years but didn't function that effectively, we relaunched it, it was inaugurated by marketing heads of the south region of ICICI bank and SONY. Two students did Summer projects in the resp. Companies, i was really happy to see presentation from Mr.Ashok of SONY, my friend who did his project in Sony will often tell me about his busy schedule. Now we have decided not just to conduct guest lecture but also to conduct quiz, GD, Ad hoc research and Case studies. I am very happy as a marketing student to be a part of all these activities.

Now classes going on ..... Quite free and Happy !!

Movies

VASOOL RAJA MBBS

'Vasoolraja MBBS', is a remake of the Hindi movie 'Munna Bhai MBBS'. Gemini Film Circuit is producing the film in Tamil and Telugu. The Tamil version, directed by Saran, has Kamal Hassan essaying the role that Sanjay Dutt enacted with such elan in the original version.

Kamal plays the role of a gangster who had initially set out to be a doctor. His parents in the village believe that he is a doctor. So, when they come to the city, the thug and his men create the ambience of a hospital in the slum, the men pretending to be doctors and patients. It's a hilarious comedy, with humour and sentiment, raising some relevant social issues too, particularly related to the medical profession.

According to me Vasool Raja MBBS is a movie worth watching now, There is no other choice in Tamil. If we see the Tamil version first without watching the Hindi version, then the movie will be rated better. Vasool Raja MBBS will get good Vasool in Tamil Nadu.

Had time to see a lot of movies:

- Spiderman 2 (Nothing great)
- Troy (Great story shown quickly)
- Village (Sounds like a thriller)
- Mysic river (Only those 6 stars should see this movie)

Tough Days

Party @ Khannas Laughing water, near VGP on 24th Aug

Being a student council member is a very tough job, Due to class timings, exams, Guest lectures and Party, we have a lot of scheduling ,collecting money and Inviting work to be done.

Like most of B-Schools we don't have parties often, once in a while we have parties. Last year when I was in hostel, seniors will give a lot of parties for Birthday, scholarship, Jobs and many others. For the people from Home and people who stay outside, party is a big thing.

Freshers party is conducted only once by seniors, this year its through Students Council ie through us. We had tough time collecting money, arranging party house and scheduling timing. Many are already working and some are too concerned about Mid term exam in the next week. But most of them accepted to come. There is only 50% attendance from Day scholars.

A nice Beach house with dance floor, good lawn, swimming pool and cute house in the middle. Last year I had an excellent time, I really enjoyed. I was in beach fro 2 hours then snacks then with seniors then Dance then food again dance and it was going on. This year we scheduled the party with some surprises to our Juniors. All expected thing are there in this party.

Party will start by 4 in the evening on Tuesday. We all will leave from our College at 3 pm in 3 buses. Then some time in Beach then we will take over the Beach house ... Then I ill go on till the morning. Real fun will be in the late night, few of us will stay and we will have great fun. People are already ready with drinks and their special menu. Food part is officially only Veg. But they can always get what they want.

Have a lot of work to do, then full day classes till mid term exam. Then all case studies, assignments, and presentations. There was nothing great till now suddenly the MBA feel is there. Hope to enjoy the party then get on with books.

Go go go alley alley ... Cup of Life

Success In Life

"Its the Attitude which determines the Altitude "

This is the reason why ICFAI Business School - Chennai : Won the MMA (Madras Management Association) award for Management excellence. 3rd MMA Award went to IBS -C it will be shocking to LIBA for sure. Its not the campus or the fame that gives the award. The research associates did a real great job, our USP was Research and "We Also teach Concept"

Students in IBS - C are not all that great in Aptitude, but the kind of skills we posses will take us to the Top. But, is it ok to survive just with classes, teaching and what ever case or situation u handle ??

LIFE - it mostly bitter, we have certain skills but what ur Boss needs ? The real problem for super genius people starts when they end with a dumb boss. In the world we should not be strong or intelligent or Huge. We should adapt to situations to win in the world. There was a picture explaining How to reach top in a company ?

The picture showed people kissing the ass of the Boss to a certain level and then kissing the leg then Kissing the hand .....And that's what I say, we should come out of Gold Medal concept we should be capable of facing any situation. It doesn't mean we have to kiss the asses of Bosses, We should get used to real job situations and we should become smart Managers. Take the story of Lee Iacocca, he proved that he is great but still Hendry Ford didn't like him, he was fired. Then he joined Chrysler then saved it from Bankruptcy. All the success models in Chrysler were the models which Hendry Ford rejected in Ford.

If u ask me ..... I love people who respect talent, but this doesn't happen generally. Bosses respect people who respect them. Come out of EGO. No one knows who will get what. Just go on do ur Duty.....ur Destiny will await you. Every Dog has its own Day.

Time and tide waits for None ..... So is Destiny

Student Council

B.Jeyavarthanaraj
ICFAI Business School - Chennai

I stood in the elections and Won it. .... Long waited election started and ended soon. I got 32 votes out of 38 voters in my class. That was a great surprise to me. I have a lot a lots of friends and I never dreamed that they will ask me to stand and make me win. For many people I was first choice and for many I was second choice ..... Guess what ? for someone i was not at all a choice. I all the cases I am Happy. I have some responsibility ... We had the first formal meeting yesterday where we were introduced to the 2005 batch students formally.

Many divisions are there, one complaints, College extracurricular, curricular, Placements ... Many faculties were assigned for each job. We just have to represent out batch and to conduct meetings, parties and quiz. Every thing is fine ... gave a small party to Hostel friends too. They coudnt vote for me. Now even if the election is for the whole college ... i hope i will WIN.

VICTORY ... means a lot than just participation. I will go back to IBS - C Management meet "Coliseum" - Winning is serious business.

Had good time since ... did some photocopy work for the class. every calls for me if there is no light in a place, or no enough chairs or no internet or power. What ever happends we are responsible. As dean mentioned the elected students council will have a lot of complaints. Hope to give reasonable solutions too. I visited local Amway center and meet President of Big Fun. Saw a presentation about MLM from x Reliance GM. Got little inspired about Amway, even Bill gates is a member of Amway. All big people are all in Amway. Why ??? to get Royalty and more money.

B.Jeyavarthanaraj
ICFAI Business School - Chennai

Life - going on fine, Getting little busy with Marketing classes, Got a lots of books as usual. I am happy to see our institute give us good books, but i spent a little on purchasing my own books. Another important happening is Part time in our institute, all students are requested to join Faculty memebers and do research or part time in companies. Many got jobs through their Summers, Me i did in SIEMENS, i dont find any scope.

Placement activities have started in Chennai, members have been selected and targeting companies are going on. I have filled my nomination for students council. I hope i will win the elections. If i loose i will loose to my Friends so its ok, but still winning is GREAT. I registered with Naukri, jobsDB and Monster just to know what happens.

Rest all same - time mostly spent in Institution, class, Internet and with Friends. Having good fun too. All thats well will end well. My MBA will end with good job.
