Chennai in Showers

We all know that there is no water in Chennai, but how to bring in Water ... Water lorries ? Veeranam thittam ? Interlinking of rivers ? Or ? Or ?. One of the ways is through heavy rains again and again.

It is happening finally in Chennai, Heavy rains, all parts of city its raining really well. The roads are filled with water and no proper drainage. We say we want more rain and more rain. But if it rains like how it rains today, there will be no place for vehicles to move in street. Water just stagnates in the streets and plain grounds. I don't know what Chennai corporation is going to do about this situation.

But is really different ... Chennai in Rains (Chennai el oru malai kallam) Yesterday morning I left to Bharti office is was drizzling, first time after going to Chennai I tried using my rain coat. For the past one week, almost every day I will be caught up in rains. So now I see people going out with umbrellas and rain coats - sounds like Kerala state. Its great being in chennai at this time, its really cool in the night, warm in the morning, Cool breeze round the clock ... WOW !!

I hope rains will continues - it can be a solution to water scarcity in Chennai ! Rains should continue ... Ground water level should increase ... Hope so ... It will RAIN !!

Presentations at B-Schools

Hum .... The most interesting part of any B-Schools is the type of Case studies and presentations.

After Entering ICFAI I have handled many many presentations. In the first term our faculties asked us to make presentation in power point. Some students started presentations with OHPs .... but Faculties stressed on Power point only. In the beginning we collect all the info, prepared for the presentation and downloaded good templates and gave a professional presentation with our personal touch.

Now its all different, I made a Presentation for a case study in Marketing Communication Strategy, It was about cokes plans entering Rural India. I didn't have time, so in the last one hour I created slides and gave a very good presentation, I kept a lot of facts and Points outside the case and of course a lot of pictures of Advertisements.

Every one taught that I spent days preparing for it, after that great presentation,my faculty challenged other students to take up PepsiCo case. Then it all really started .... Video presentations. We saw seniors use Flash for presentations ... Now in our Batch also it started.

But there is one point in any ones presentation, it not important how prepared you are or what vocabs you use or What you show. But we have the convey the message properly to the audience. I always go by his rule. Presentation ambiance is improved by Powerpoint or Video Clip or Flash. But the real good presentation is the one which is understood and accepted to be the best by the Audience.

I will go with the GLADIATOR Movie dialogue (Before Maximus enters the Coliseum his master tells him) "Win the crowd and you will win your freedom"

The same goes with every one, may be a Cricket player (or) a Gladiator (or) a Faculty .... Or a student giving a presentation ....

"Win the crowd and you will win"

..........I will be B A C K !!!

Till Today

Yesterday by 6 in the evening we inaugurated our Healthclub, I had great fun. We invited Crazy Mohan to inaugurate our Health club. Crazy mohan is well know comedian in Tamil movies, artist in various dramas in TV and a also a script writer for Tamil movies. His latest appearance was in Vasool Raja MBBS movie. He is responsible for all the funny dialogs in that movie.

This is a small initiative from IBS point of view, we didn't prefer going in for academic or corporate or Big stars. He is on his way for a 2 months trip to USA for conducting Tamil drama and plays in various parts of US. He accepted to conduct a comedy show for our institute, He is a very simple funny and a CRAZY man.

I had many works, in MBA all the students are focused on studies, after 7 days juniors have exam so only 2 council members were ready to work, in my batch all went to finance class, me the only Marketing member and 2 juniors did all the work. Finally we had 50 students and 5 staff and 20 non staff member attended the function. Now IBS students can have more fun with Gym, TT, Caroms, TV and Songs .... only 130 students have registered for Gym, which is a very small count, around 50% of the strength, and that too only for 1 hour each, Students council has to rework on schedules and student timings.

Daily I come to college by 10 and will stay till 9, Daily some students council work ... We have a paid placement cell in IBS-C (They work great) some days we compete with them. So far Students Council has conducted Finance club, ET Club, Council meetings, Marketing club, Party ,Health club and many student works. Sometimes I think all these are unnecessary to my MBA ... But MBA is not just studies. Its great being students council member. I love to be an elected honorary member representing students, in UG I was secretary now students council member ... I Hope to attain a lot of respectable positions in life.

ROYAL BENGAL TIGER:

Tigers are rapidly decreasing in the world. In the last millenium, three sub-species of tigers already lost their existence while five other species are endangered. The first lot of the three sub-species comprised of panthera tigris virgata, panthera tigris balica and panthera tigris sondica.

The endangered species are Bengal Tiger(Panthera tigris tigris), Amur Tiger (Panthera tigris attaica), Chinese Tiger (Panthera tigris amoyensis), Indonesian Tiger(Panthera tigris sumatrae) and Indo-Chinese Tiger(Panthera tigris corbetti). To save these tigers, a movement called Save Tiger has been working since 1972.

Total number of tigers in India in 1972 was 1800 which has since then increased to 3500-4000. Efforts of the Government, NGOs and the people have brought about this change. The Wildlife Conservation Act was passed in 1972. But incidents of poaching is still heard. We have sixteen project tiger field areas in our country. They are Corbet National Park, Kanha National Park, Indravati National Park, Sarinka National Park, Melghat Sanctuary, Palamou Tiger Reserve, North Simlipal National Park, Buxa Sanctuary, Sunderbans National Park, Manas Sanctuary, Namdapha National Park, Nagarjun Sagar Shvishailam Sanctuary, Bandipur National Park.

PEACOCK:

The male Indian Peafowl, commonly known as the peacock, is one of the most recognizable birds in the world. These large, brightly colored birds have a distinctive crest and an unmistakable ornamental train. The train (1.4-1.6 meters in length) accounts for more than 60% of their total body length (2.3 meters). Combined with a large wingspan (1.4-1.6 meters), this train makes the male peafowl one of the largest flying birds in the world. The train is formed by 100-150 highly specialized uppertail-coverts. Each of these feathers sports an ornamental ocellus, or eye-spot, and has long disintegrated barbs, giving the feathers a loose, fluffy appearance. When displaying to a female, the peacock erects this train into a spectacular fan, displaying the ocelli to their best advantage.

The more subtly colored female Peafowl is mostly brown above with a white belly. Her ornamentation is limited to a prominent crest and green neck feathers. Though females (2.75-4.0 kg) weigh nearly as much as the males (4.0-6.0 kg), they rarely exceed 1.0 meter in total body length.

---- lots to be said about Indian Wild life ..... will continue !

Party - Exam - Marketing Club

Too busy .....

We started from our campus in 3 busses ..... a one hour journey towards mahabalipuram, on the east cost road after VGP there are a lots of beach houses. We finally reached that place. I was forced to go on the first bus to show the way. I had only my dear juniors with me .... It was a formal journey, they are mostly from north, they did not understand the songs, then they dint like the movie. No dance or song in the Bus. I should have come on the last bus with all my friends ... Ho it will be rock and roll.

We entered the place by 4 in the evening, it was Hot (Chennai) then we had some little play in pool, all the students were gathered for an informal meeting between the seniors and juniors, it went on well. Then all of us were busy pushing each other in the pool. Since the pool was not very deep, nothing happened to anyone and i enjoyed a lot.

We went to Beach and had a real great time over there, we were going on and on, infact our juniors enjoyed more than us as we people had exams on that week. But a bunch of seniors including me, we had great fun. Then I spent time with my gang, they came in Bike, then came after going to a restaurant/bar. They drove 5 km on the beach, I missed it. We were all busy making fun of each other. Then songs started ..... 7 to 12.30 I was on and on and on. Had little break when our Dean came and during food. Crazy dance. Juniors were dominating the dance floor.

Exams:

All marketing papers and 2 common papers were all theory, 5 days 6 exam's. Some days in the morning then in the evening ..... I slept for 4 hours and some times less, I felt little stress after that party, full of cramps. Tired and different sleep timing really affected me. Then question paper was the best. All creative and out of portion or micro portion test. We had marketing research questions in Consumer behavior and a different general - Marketing Comm. Strategy paper and easy services marketing paper. Didn't do well in Management control system, rest all were good.

Marketing club:

It was created before 2 years but didn't function that effectively, we relaunched it, it was inaugurated by marketing heads of the south region of ICICI bank and SONY. Two students did Summer projects in the resp. Companies, i was really happy to see presentation from Mr.Ashok of SONY, my friend who did his project in Sony will often tell me about his busy schedule. Now we have decided not just to conduct guest lecture but also to conduct quiz, GD, Ad hoc research and Case studies. I am very happy as a marketing student to be a part of all these activities.

Now classes going on ..... Quite free and Happy !!
