Turn your Head 360 Degree

In companies, there is a fixed component and Variable component. Generally in Marketing, people push their limits to achieve maximum of variable component. I am still continuing that part time Project with Airtel. Our Head Sr. Manager of retention Mr.Manoj has a very good opinion on my Friend Ram and me in the company as we are MBA's and we guys work hard.

But we were generally creating an opinion that job in Airtel is not that tough or pressurizing. Last week on Friday he gave us some work. Generally there will be a Team leader coordinating us and we have incentives for our work. So last month, we did a great job – we got appreciation and Incentives, we performed better than his expectations. But this time, we didn’t even bother, as there is no Incentives or coordinator or sure Deadline.

Suddenly today he asked to close all the cases!! Then we gave our own reasons for not doing the Job. He gave good Doses and asked to complete everything at the latest by 3.00 pm today. And ...................... We did it (From 10.00 am to 3.00 pm 100% concentration)

Mr.Manoj actually wanted us to be disciplined as individuals and work for satisfaction not money!! So it was a great and tough day. He wanted to watch us perform with and without Push + Incentives. So when I join campus job I will be very careful with this aspect. In the first 1 yr. there will be no incentives so I got to break my head to satisfy my Boss. But Mr.Manoj left us with a pat in the shoulder at the end of the day... He praised us for our Dedication, finally he told - guys you did well!!

----- But still its Pain to hear that there are no incentives ……. ha ha ha ha. Joke apart I feel its very important for us to perform very well as companies evaluates us in 360-degree approach.

E-Serve Results

5 students of my Institution (IBS-C) 3 Guys and 2 Girls made it through E-Serve, 6 from IBS-H, 6 from IBS-B, 6 from IBS-Mum, some from IBS-K, other centers, 2 from LIBA and few other B-Schools. All the students are happy about to pay part of it. As I said before they will get 28 on hand every month and upto 90 k at the end of a year, E-Serve took 9 from IBS-C last yr, they have kept up the commitment of the Pay.

My Question to all BPO guys is ..... Will other sectors accept BPO Experience, there are a lot of BOP in India, so these Guys can shift between them, but can they Shift to ; 'old Economy' companies in India ------ time alone can answer my question.

BEST OF LUCK for those guys, no way they can get such a High pay out of IBS-C (CTC 5.8 Lakhs). Hope the Job takes to the right Direction in the Long term !!

Songs Songs Songs

Be it Kolly wood, be it bollywood, or Hollywood. May it be Melody or Rock or Jazz or Instrumental its fun to hear songs.

Be it Songs of Enrique Iglesias, Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams, MJ or J'Lo. May be it Dil se or Dil chata hey. May be it Manmadhan or Alaipayuthey, I just Love them. I spend about 1 hr daily hearing songs. I had good collection of English, Hindi and Tamil songs in my comp: Now it’s in Coimbatore, so now I use walkman on or Radio!! When I am tired or not well or scored less marks or lost a Test I hear some songs to get recharged. Even when we are happy during parties we hear songs, during marriage we hear songs. So I want to dedicate one part of my blog to those amazing people who come up with Great songs movie after movie – alum after album!! Certain movies becomes a Hit just because of Songs, A movie entertains a person once or twice when we see them, but the songs just make us happy every time play everywhere ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' WOW I love songs !!

Kolkatta Experience

From 7th to 11th 6 guys from IBS Chennai was on a tour to Kolkatta, Actually we went to IBS - K campus, Our purpose of visit is to attending Presentation by AC Nielson Company and PWC too (But no one was interested to be in Campus for both the days). IBS booked tickets, gave 3000 Rs and Leave also. So its great fun!!

But then the Profile was not as expected (They wanted we guys to do Research in Retail chains in Bombay and Delhi), they pay was also low 2.4 Lakhs plus incentives and bonus and allowances. 3 guys from Chennai and 5 from Calcutta IBS center went to interview, 4 made it through. Hope those guys are happy. I didn’t attend the interview. Calcutta placement cell was not than happy with we guys attending placements over there (Chennai center is ranked above Calcutta)

The whole purpose of my visit is to enjoy Calcutta; I have never gone beyond Goa and Hyderabad. Once when I was Young we went to Maharastra, but then I wanted to enjoy Calcutta. We went to Victoria memorial Hall (Great historic place, beautiful artifacts and Pictures) then to Church (Didn’t enter inside) then to Durga temple (Very famous in Calcutta - [people go inside with shoes also) finally to Hanging bridge. I went in all possible transport - Tram, Metro, Bus and Taxi.

The Best part of Calcutta is the sweets and Climate. South part of the city is very dirty and fully populated, but North is modern and well developed. I stayed in South Indian club (Good south Indian food). Had good Bengali sweets and Food, people are good, they helped us a lot, People are very Fair and good looking (Girls never the less were cute). I don’t smoke or booze, so some of my friends enjoyed that part too. We 6 guys as a team have good fun all these days. But the train Journey was an adventure (3 trains while going and 2 while coming back : we didn’t get direct trains)

----- Now back again with classes, presentation and case studies!!

Desk Research

Its time to look at the End of my MBA in ICFAI. The final semester is going on, but we have formally started our final Projects. Its called as the MRP (Management Research Projects).

I ma not yet officially placed, so have decided to do a project in Telecom, it will be basically a desk research with few field visits. If I am placed in between then i have to handle 2 projects. So its little complex. My final semester ends on Feb 15. From then ; till end of March we will have to take up Full time Projects. I am currently doing project for Airtel, its easy to collect data from Airtel than any other telephone company. Life is going good. But little pressure due to Job, College and Placements!!
